Class Description

Session 2: Deepening Instruction: Vocabulary, Fluency, and Effective Interventions. Extending the work for upper elementary, middle, and high schools

Join literacy expert John O’Connor for a dynamic three-session series focused on the science of reading, structured literacy, and the implementation of Georgia’s literacy laws. During the sessions, he will extend the discussion to include all grade levels. The interactive series is designed for principals, assistant principals, curriculum directors, special education leaders, instructional coaches, and teachers. Participants will explore practices that support all students – Tier 1, through interventions, dyslexia, and specially designed instruction. Session 2 of 3: This session continues the focus on structured literacy and the science of reading, with a particular emphasis on vocabulary instruction and oral reading fluency across all grade levels. These elements are critical for success in all content areas.

John O’Connor will also address the implementation of effective intervention systems in elementary, middle, and high schools. Participants will gain valuable insights from each other’s practices, challenges, and successes. Although this is a series of sessions, participants will benefit from attending a single session if they are not able to attend all three sessions.
