Class Description

Unlock the power of word knowledge through morphology—the study of the meaningful parts of words. In this interactive professional learning session, educators will explore how teaching prefixes, suffixes, roots, and base words can deepen students’ vocabulary, strengthen decoding skills, and improve reading comprehension and spelling. Special attention will be given to how morphological instruction supports students in reading and writing multi-syllabic words—a common hurdle for developing and struggling readers.

Participants will learn the research behind morphological instruction and gain practical strategies for integrating it into Tier 1 instruction and interventions. Through modeling, collaborative discussion, and classroom-ready examples, teachers will leave equipped to help students break apart and make sense of complex, multi-syllabic words—transforming literacy instruction across the content areas.
