POSITION TITLE: Regional Math Specialist – New Position for the 2026-2027 school year

 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: 220-day contract with compensation package (TRS & benefits) to begin July 8, 2026, or as the position is filled.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in education or higher from an accredited college or university.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following listed below. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Instructional Program:
  1. Create a math environment conducive to effective instruction.
  2. Demonstrate, model, and coach various math strategies for classrooms.
  3. Evaluate math needs within the school and collaborate with teachers and administrators to interpret, use assessment data to improve instruction, and problem solve.
  4. Provide guidance and training for instructional coaches, teachers, and other staff on the implementation of interventions, intervention plans, and other strategies to be used for the improvement of math.

 

Professional Development:
  1. Attend quarterly face-to-face seminars.
  2. Provide training and follow-up coaching to assist instructional support staff and classroom teachers in the use of math strategies.
  3. Work with district or school coaches individually, in collaborative teams, and/or with departments, providing practical support on a full range of math and problem-solving strategies.
  4. Observe and provide feedback to teachers on instruction related to math instructional strategies.
  5. Continue professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge, skills, and strategies through an ongoing program of workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work.
  6. Maintain a collection of professional and math materials related to math which reflect current research.
  7. Provide professional learning for teachers, leaders, and other appropriate personnel as needed.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Successful instructional and/or leadership experience; knowledge of current practices in math, problem-solving, or other applicable academic disciplines.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Georgia certificate from the Professional Standards Commission
  2. Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience
  3. Skills in communication, leadership, collaboration, and organization
  4. Strong background in standards-based curriculum
  5. Exceptional references demonstrating strong ability to work with others to create a positive work environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Teacher Leader Endorsement certification

Teacher Support and Coaching Endorsement certification

Math Endorsement certification

STEM Endorsement certification

Preferred experience teaching across various grade levels and content areas

Preferred experience in the design and implementation of professional development focused directly on increasing student achievement

Successful experience as a mentor Advanced degree(s) in an applicable field
