Class Description

By seamlessly blending reading and writing instruction and embracing the philosophy of “read like a writer, write as a reader”, teachers can foster a richer literacy classroom environment that enhances students’ comprehension, critical thinking, and communication skills. Participants in this course will discover the benefits of integrating reading and writing, learn what it means to read like a writer and write as a reader, create engaging writing tasks that align with reading goals, and develop techniques for assessing and providing feedback on student writing within the context of reading lessons. Participants will have the opportunity to share and collaborate on best practices. At the end of this course, participants will have a toolkit of strategies and resources to make the reading-writing connection come alive in their classrooms effectively.
